The Cistercian Monastery (for nuns) of Santa Maria del Salvador at Canas in La Rioja (where the good wine comes from) was founded in 1170 |

Three Abbots, three Bishops and other mourners adorn the tomb of La Beata Urraca Lopez de Haro (1170 – 1262 (92)) (Abbess from 1225) in the Chapter House.
The room also contains the sepulchral slabs from the tombs of four other abbesses between 1268 and 1358, carved, in the traditional tribute to abbots and abbesses, with reliefs of their croziers |

This smallish last supper painted relief is part of the screen behind the (west) church altar and is a triumph of workmanship and the power of the recently released Nikon 18-200 VR lens. |
